How We Build Hope
Walking volunteers wear a strand and add 1 bead for every 1/4 mile they walk. The strands are combined into unique messages of hope for cancer, ALS, and MS patients.
Imagine having to get stuck with a needle again, go to the doctor again, get tested again, wait for test results again, wake up in the dark alone and afraid again, feeling guilty because you need help again, unable to hold your children, and in some cases, knowing your time is all too short.
These are the times for hope you can hold. Know that people walked great distances, often in pain themselves, simply to give you comfort when you need it the most. They don't know you, but they don't need to. They just know there are times when you feel beyond the scope of human endurance, and they want you to know the scope is much larger than you realize.
This is the message.
We are the messengers.
We need you.
We are a 501(c)(3) registered with the State of Florida. Our mission is to coordinate and teach others to coordinate walking for beads. The bead strands are donated to the coordinator, who puts the beads together as one necklace. Walkers often choose colors for a specific reason, so the original order of the beads are intact for the final necklace, and presented with a customized letter telling the necklace's story, to a cancer, ALS, or MS patient.
